I used www.hotwire.com (again) and got a nice hotel at half the price of a discount hotel. And the offer is still there if you want to grab it.

The thing about Hotwire (and why it’s cheap) is that the will not tell you the name of the hotel upfront. This way, hotels can sell unused rooms at a lower price without competing with themselves.
But this hotel turned out to be Derag Hotel And Living Hotel Grosser Kurfürst.
It seems to be a real nice 4-star hotel smack downtown with a Metro going directly to TechED. You just can’t beat $39/night in Europe and it’s half price compared to the cheapest official TechED hotels!
